After moving to the Bay Area in the mid-1990s, Melody and Todd spent many weekends exploring the Sonoma and Napa Valleys, tasting the wines, enjoying the food, and getting to know the places and people of the region. In 1998, Melody and Todd were married at Chimney Rock Winery on Napa's Silverado Trail. This event not only marked the public commitment to their relationship but also their love affair with the region and with wine!

In 2005, they took a life changing trip in search of the true origin of their life long love affair with wine. On that trip, they experienced the majesty and diversity of fine dining in Paris, tasted the very grapes that became the now famous 2005 Burgundy vintage, and walked the casks of the Brunello di Montalcino makers. After that experience, they knew that they didn't just want to be consumers; we also want to be producers! So, that year they searched for a property that they could call their own.

It wasn't until 3 years later that they happened upon our Burndale property and it was love at first sight. The location was perfect and the vineyards were just coming to maturity. They bought the property after a 30 minute tour and haven't looked back since.

Located in the north west corner of the Carneros AVA, the vineyards are ideally suited for Chardonnay, Syrah, and Pinot Noir. They cultivate from just over 3.5 acres of vineyards.

The Chardonnay vineyard was planted in 2003 and the Pinot Noir was planted in 2008 into five main blocks:

  •     - Block one is on the southeast corner of the property and is all Chardonnay ESP352, Cert 41 on Schwartzman rootstock.

  •     - Block two in on the northeast corner of the property and is all Chardonnay 4 on 101-14 rootstock.

  •     - Block three is on the northwest corner of the property and is all Chardonnay ESP352, Cert 41 on Schwartzman rootstock.

  •     - Block four is in the heart of the property and is all Pinot Noir Clone 777 on Schwartzman rootstock.

  •     - Block five is an extension of block one and is a Pinot grafted from a family friend's premium vineyard in the Russian River area.
